Andy Follin is Olivia Archbold's vocal coach

Olivia Archbold has proven her talent - and the versatility of Estill Voice Training - once again, by being cast in the role of Fantine in a production of Les Miserables.

Over 200 young people auditioned for Stint Production's version of Les Mis and, despite it being Olivia's first venture in Musical Theatre, she earned the major role of Fantine.

The show was directed by Andy Follin, who helped Olivia make the transition between Pop / R&B and Music Theatre, explaining the differences in vocal set-up and voice qualities required.

Andy says, "Having taught Olivia in Estill techniques since I started coaching her, it was very easy to get Olivia to engage with a character as complex as Fantine. She has a solid understanding of how to use her voice, and how to apply that technique to songs - everything she sings, she sings with conviction and passion, and a unique, personal style that's very refreshing to see and hear.

Hearing her sing 'I dreamed a dream' was like listening to the song for the first time - she made it her own."

Olivia and Vocal Skills

Andy says, "Olivia is a very honest singer, which is a rare gift, especially for someone so young. But she also has a great work ethic and a willingness to learn that makes teaching her a real pleasure. And the fact that she can turn her hand equally to Pop and Musical Theatre proves once again that Estill-trained singers can sing in any style, in any genre, with equal success. "
